Queensland Food and Wine Touring Atlas

The Queensland Government is developing a Queensland food and wine touring atlas, in association with HEMA maps. This atlas will promote a broad range of Queensland's food (including seafood), wine and beverage manufacturers that are open to the public. 

Queensland will be the first state in Australia to bring together its key food, wine and beverage tourist destinations across the State into one comprehensive resource. This atlas will provide tourists with specific details about each attraction and useful information about Queensland's unique regions. 

Queensland food and beverage manufacturers and wineries, that operate a facility that is open to tourists, are invited to apply to have a free entry included in the first Queensland food and wine touring atlas, provided they meet all of the following criteria and conditions:

Eligibility criteria:

Must be one of the following -

  1. a licensed Queensland food manufacturer with:
    • a registered Australian Business Number (ABN)
    • a licensed food premise/food retail outlet
    • a range of value-added, food products available for direct purchase by the public

    OR

  2. a licensed Queensland non-alcoholic beverage manufacturer with:
    • a registered Australian Business Number (ABN)
    • a range of products available for direct purchase by the public

    OR

  3. the holder of a licence under the Wine Industry Act 1994 or Liquor Act 1992 (tourism related) with:
    • a registered Australian Business Number (ABN)
    • a range of products available for direct purchase by the public

    OR

  4. the holder of an authority under the Fisheries Act 1994 which allows the sale of fisheries products with:
    • a registered Australian Business Number (ABN)
    • a range of products available for direct purchase by the public

AND

Must meet all of the following criteria -

  1. offer a unique tourism 'experience' such as winery or factory tours and tastings, viewing the making of cheese, chocolates, ice-cream, pasta, honey or the farming and/or processing of marine and freshwater species etc,
  2. be easily accessible to all visitors with clear road/ premise signage and safe off-road parking
  3. have a shopfront area for product sales that is open for regular business throughout the week and weekends
  4. provide a short summary on the business including what tourists can expect from the visit.

Note:  An applicant who meets the above minimum eligibility criteria does not guarantee that the applicant's entry will be published in the Atlas.

The Queensland Government reserves the right in its absolute discretion to:

  • publish or refuse to publish entries submitted in the Atlas, irrespective of whether they meet all of the above criteria;
  • edit the content submitted by an applicant prior to being published in the Atlas.

Conditions:

  • Applications - Applications will only be accepted for consideration by completing the official online application form. If you are unable to complete the online application form, please contact the Food and Wine Industry Development Unit on 07 3224 2009.
  • Communication - The Queensland Government reserves the right to edit or not to include content and images submitted.

Although not excluded, it is unlikely that businesses of the following types would be eligible to apply:

  • cafes
  • restaurants
  • take-away and fast food outlets
  • supermarkets
  • butcher shops
  • petrol stations
  • wineries without a cellar door or
  • liquor outlets and bottle shops.
