National and International Research Alliances Program

The National and International Research Alliances Program provides funding for collaborative projects that build on Queensland's national and international alliances. 

The key objective of the National and International Research Alliances program is to support the delivery of research, development and innovation outcomes by Queensland-based entities and interstate, national and/or international partners.

Features at a glance

  • grants are between $200,000 and $2 million over one to three years
  • funding rounds will be open, competitive and merit based
  • funding is to be matched by a cash contribution of 1:1
  • projects must be collaborative, involving a Queensland-based entity and a national or international partner
  • at least 25 per cent of the applicant's matched cash contribution is to be provided by the national or international alliance partner(s)
  • partners should have a genuine capacity to utilise the outcomes of the project
  • projects must be capable of generating economic, social, environmental and/or regional benefits to Queensland
  • funding may be used for project consumables, salary costs for key project staff and operational overheads

Applications for funding must include:

  • a completed and signed application form
  • supporting documentation
